Teeth whitening
Dentist-led whitening to safely lighten the natural shade of your teeth, after checking your teeth and gums are healthy.
Why dentist-led?
In the UK, tooth whitening can legally only be carried out or prescribed by a registered dental professional. Your teeth and gums are checked first, so problems such as decay or gum disease are treated before whitening.
How it works
After an examination, Dr Abbasi explains the options that suit you, takes scans or impressions if custom trays are needed, and shows you how to use the gel safely. Progress is reviewed to make sure you are comfortable.
Good to know
- Whitening only works on natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, bonding and fillings do not change colour.
- Temporary sensitivity and gum irritation are the most common side effects.
- Results vary and can fade with tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. Top-ups help.
- Planning bonding or veneers? Whitening usually comes first.
Teeth whitening: common questions
Is whitening safe?
When carried out or prescribed by a dental professional after an examination, yes. Sensitivity is common but usually temporary.
How long does it last?
It varies with diet and habits. Occasional top-ups maintain the shade.
Will it change my fillings or crowns?
No. Only natural teeth lighten, so existing restorations may need replacing to match.
